Julie Andrews - Secretary

I qualified in 1997 and worked for the NHS in Kettering, Milton Keynes and Northampton until 2004 at which point I decided to take the plunge into Independent working on a full time basis. I joined ASLTIP in 1999 and worked with private clients around my NHS role. This enabled me to steadily reduce the NHS job while increasing my Independent caseload.

During my NHS work I was heavily involved with the TEACCH approach and participated in the Annual workshops for 3 years before going to North Carolina to take part in the Advanced TEACCH course to become a trainer. My specific roles included ASD lead and Special needs Co-ordinator, as a result, a significant proportion of my clients are on the Autistic Spectrum.

I'm fiercely protective of our profession and firmly believe that what we do works!! I joined the ASLTIP Executive with the specific intention of getting involved with increasing our public profile as a profession as well as an Independent organisation.

I organised this year's AGM/Conference in quite a different way to the usual AGM/Study day and the feedback has been 100% positive. I am very happy to undertake this role again next year. I am also keen to take on a 'marketing' remit for the organisation as part of my responsibilities being a '6th Member'.

I'm very keen to turn the ASLTIP name and therefore the SLT profession into a 'household' name!!
