ASLTIP local groups have developed from the needs of individual clinicians in independent practice to share information and developments in speech and language therapy and for the maintenance of nationally acceptable guidelines for the management of independent practice.
ASLTIP local groups are recognised and supported by ASLTIP as an accessible means for continuing professional development, maintaining skills and providing support to members who work in sole practice. Local groups are led by members, for members, and are organised by elected or voluntary committees.

In order to be valuable to the membership it is important that local groups operate in a professional manner and demonstrate true value in professional development and training, but each local group will be unique in its formation, style of meetings and agenda.
