Palliative Care

Care for those with life-threatening illness aims to improve the quality of life wherever possible by relief of distressing symptoms.

Speech and language therapists may have a part to play within a multi-disciplinary team:

• Dysphagia management may be appropriate.
• Individuals with communication and/or voice problems may require support in making their wishes known.

Therapists will advise on strategies to achieve the best possible function. They can also offer information to carers.
