Have all your members been checked by the Criminal Record Bureau?

Answer

All of our members are aware that they should obtain Enhanced Disclosure from the CRB. However, due to recent changes in legislation, practitioners who work independently are not allowed to apply for CRB checks in their own right. Therapists who work with the NHS, Local Authorities or other organizations have been advised to obtain a CRB check through them. Clients are advised to ask their therapist if they have a disclosure form, and to ask to see a copy of it. .

Answer

The rates for private therapy vary widely depending upon the service offered. The therapist you contact will advise you of his/her fees.

Should I let my two year old watch the Teletubbies? They do not seem to speak very clearly.

Answer

The Teletubbies may not speak very clearly but they do use a lot of repetition and short phrases which little children enjoy. We always give the same advice about television. It should not be used as a child minder too often. Children will get a lot more from the programmes if an adult is watching with them who can talk to the child about what they have seen.

My child is beginning to stammer and my mother-in-law says that it is because I keep telling him off.

Answer

There are many different theories about stammering but there is no proof that it can be caused by telling a child off in the normal course of events.
